Ghana’s Standard Trust Bank metamorphoses into UBA

The Standard Trust Bank Limited of Ghana has been re-lunched as the United Bank for Africa at a ceremony held at the Standard Trust Bank in Accra. The STB, the first bank to be licensed as a Universal Bank by the Bank of Ghana, started its operations in January 2005.

Since its inception, the Bank has presented a variety of innovative products such as the zero deposit account (called the Standard Cashless Savings Account) which offered access to the formal banking products and services to people who had no bank account.

Other products, such as Tele- Banking, SMS/Mobile-Banking and the Text-Me Cash (a revolutionary SMS Banking product designed to facilitate the easy transfer of cash electronically via mobile phones from a Standard Trust customer to any recipient among many others).

The Vice President of Ghana, who was a guest of honour at the event, has urged the UBA group as part of its social responsibility, to extend its partnership to the Ghana health sector and to identify strongly with other worthy causes in the society.
