WITNESS APPEALS

We are appealing for witnesses and information after a murder in Peckham.

Police were called on 6.2.07 to reports of a shooting at an address in Diamond Street SE15.

Police and the ambulance service attended and a 15 year old boy was taken to Kings College Hospital suffering gunshot wounds - we are not discussing further at present.

The boy was pronounced dead shortly after 01.40. He has been formally identified as Michael DOSUNMU [4.2.92 - 15 ys], of 10 Diamond St, SE15.

Next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination on 6/2/07 gave cause of death as gunshot wounds (NPTDF).

An Incident Room has opened under D/Supt Gary Richardson (Trident) D/Supt Richardson said: "We are appealing for information regarding two suspects that we believe are male. We do not have further detail regarding their description at this stage.

"We believe that the suspects forced entry into the victim's home in Diamond Street. The victim was at home with his sister at the time.


"Gunshots were heard and the boy was found in his bedroom suffering from gunshot wounds. "The suspects then fled the scene and ran off in the direction of Chandler Way.

We are re-iterating appealing for any witnesses or information concerning a shooting in Peckham on 4 February in which one man died.

Police were called at approximately 00.40 hrs to reports of a shooting in a flat at Flamborough House, Clayton Rd, SE15.

Two men were discovered at the address with injuries.

A man in his 40's was pronounced dead at the scene; the other man, also in his 40s, was also shot. He remains in hospital in a serious but not life threatening condition. If it assists appeals, both victims are black.

We believe that we know the identity of the dead man but have not yet been able to inform his next of kin. Formal identification has yet to take place.

A post mortem on Monday 5 February showed the cause of death to be gun shot wounds.

It is being investigated by the MPS Specialist Shooting Team Operation Trident.

DCI Peter Valentine said he is a keeping an open mind as to the motive. "We do not know at this stage if the shooting was pre-meditated or was the result of something happening in the flat. There could have been a number of people coming and going at the premises. "I appealing for anyone who was in this area, around Flamborough House, Clayton Road, between 11.30 pm on Saturday night and 12.30 am Sunday morning. Did you see or hear anything suspicious?

Did you see anyone leaving or entering the block between those times?"
